TRUMAN'S BIRTHDAY ADVENTURES

Truman had a great birthday this week. Brian was gone on Wednesday so we decided to save the real festivities for Saturday when he would be home. Thanks to an idea from Lincoln's friend's family we woke him up for breakfast in bed on his birthday (cheerios and chocolate milk). We sang to wake him up and he smiled really big and pretended to keep sleeping. When he finally woke up he said, "thanks guys," like he was so touched.

For dinner I asked what he wanted and he said Cafe Rio, so' I took all four kids to eat at Cafe Rio all by myself. They had a great time and kept saying, "this is so fun, this is so fun." We hit "the donut place" for a Truman's dessert of choice and headed home to bed. His friends who could not make his party Saturday brought him a present and he said over and over how nice that was. He is a pretty appreciative kid. Or we don't do enough nice things for him so he is amazed at the special treatment.

Lincoln has a pretty hard time with Truman's birthday. He is used to the attention and leading our clan and doing what he wants, so all the focus on someone else was hard. Truman just wants Lincoln to be happy so he let him wear his new clothes and play with his new things and shared everything. Truman won't let people walk all over him, but if he sees someone disappointed he will put them first to help them be happy. He is tough and sweet and very entertaining to have around.

Saturday we had a bday breakfast with family and Truman got a new hoop that goes up to 6 feet tall and some sports clothes. These kids love to be in uniform at all times. Thanks Jess, Gramere and Grandpa! Later we had a friend party with 4 4 year olds (Sammi Stewart, NaNate Liljenquist, Gage Johnson and Will Elggren). It was a basketball sports party (surprise surprise) and the kids played fruit basket as balls, had lunch concession stand style, did an obstacle course and water balloons.

When Truman blew out the candles he wished for a ride on a real horse. He must be pretty loved because after coming to the party Aunt Libby called to say free pony rides were going on down the hill at a nursery. We went and fulfilled Truman's birthday wish and later that day was the water fun below. Have you ever heard of more birthday fun??

Wow, Choo-Choo-Man, it sounds like you had a very fun birthday. I would have picked Cafe Rio, too! Yummy. I hope you had a fun time riding that pony.
