The Elusive Ice Cream Man

From 4-29-09

Two or three years ago the ice cream man drove by and we missed him. He has not returned since...until a few days ago! I was trying a new recipe and dinner was almost ready when we hear the magical tinkling sound of his truck coming down the street. Throwing caution into the wind, I sent the kids out to flag him down and I ran for their piggy bank (really a bottle full of change that ends up spread across the house once a week).

Outside the kids stood next to the truck, mouths watering, eyes popping with excitement at the pictures of ice cream treats they had never dreamed existed.
As for me, the truck and treats and song could have driven right out of my childhood memories. The prices, on the other hand...let's just say had I known what they were I would have brought bills instead of change. I am glad for the spontaneous fun and I will not be mad if the truck continues to come by once every two or three years:)

Now that's a treat to create an awesome memory..... How fun for you - thanks for indulging, cuz the kids look like they really enjoyed the popsicles. I've never seen a Batman Popsicle. love you tonz.

I am not very good at commenting but since I was watching the video for the umpteenth time I will say I love it! I love watching all 3 kids in action and hearing their voices. I can not wait to see them in 2 months! I love the ice cream truck story - been there done that - although you may think we never did buy the ice cream. The hardest part was having the change when the truck was around.

I gave into Kayley once by letting her buy from the ice cream truck. Now she has become obsessed with it. Thankfully there aren't very many kids in our neighborhood (which I pointed out the the driver. Wink wink.)
